About
hey there, this is Steph. I am an effective independent product designer with nearly a decade of experience building 0 to 1 products with teams and orgs of all sizes, at any stage.
I’ve worked in a wide range of industries: from b2b saas to consumer products to regulated health tech to ai research tools. whatever the assignment, I am the happiest when working on complex systems with a smart and collaborative team.
I’ve been lucky enough to work with on projects for companies like Midjourney, clay.run, fountain, Instabase, Literati, Opendoor, Oscilar, Pogo, popl, pow.bio, PreDxion Bio, Primer, Productboard, pyn, South Park Commons, Turntable, and various stealth orgs.
In recent years, I’ve leaned more towards biotech and ai research projects.
over 8 years of experience skills: user research/testing, ui/ux/interaction design, visual design, low and high fidelity prototyping, writing project docs, setting design/eng processes, presenting exec summaries
backgroundI left the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2015 to self-study all things design and ended up landing my first startup job in 2017. While I was self studying, I supported myself by working in michelin starred, award winning restaurants doing whatever my team needed to be done- photographer, server, prep cook, dishwasher, admin. A lot of my principles behind user-centric design and going the extra mile come from my time serving guests and being responsible for their experiences in that world.
In 2020, I moved to SF to work with a design collective headed by Morgan Knutson (f30u30). And I’ve been happily based in the bay since.Offline, I try to stay active in the fine dining scene and you can usually find me shooting things with a camera or a japanese longbow.
Thanks for taking the time. If you’re curious about working together, feel free to reach out with any questions.
about this portfolio
all the content in this portfolio was compiled and written by me; it's faults are my own. this is an accurate reflection of how i organize thoughts, projects, and how I present work live to teams and clients.
dev of this site was done by me, painstakingly collaging a lot of vibecoded snippets and tweens together. I used this as an opportunity to teach myself front end. before this project, i didn't even know how to clone a repo.
